Do You Need Mens Haircut Services? How To Choose A Stylist
Are you in desperate need of a cut and style? Before you choose men's haircut services, take a look at the question to ask your future potential stylist.
How Much Experience Do You Have?
While there's no magic formula you can use to judge the expertise of your would-be stylist, you want a salon professional who has plenty of experience. Beyond experience in the salon setting, make sure your stylist of choice has expertise specific to men's haircuts.
This should include a solid portfolio and client list dating back years. If this is your stylist's first week on the job or their first time working with men, you may not get the cut or style you want.
What Is Your Hair Styling Philosophy?
Does the stylist typically choose one type of haircut and go from there, or will they tailor the style to your needs? Can the stylist look at a photo you provide and create a cut that's similar (and complements your facial features)? Make sure you're on board with the types of cuts the stylist offers. If not, you could end up with a cut that isn't right for your face or your needs.
What Are Your Hygiene Practices?
While you don't need to know how many showers your hair stylist takes per week, you do need to make sure they observe strict hygiene practices. These should include hand washing/wearing gloves, properly sanitizing equipment and tools, and cleaning the salon area.
Along with the stylist's answers to this question, take a look around the salon. Does the salon look clean? If you see hair on the floor, hair in brushes/combs, tools left out after each use, or visible dirt/debris, this isn't the salon for you. But if the space looks clean, you can see disinfectant stations, and the staff visibly engages in hygiene practices (such as hand washing), you may have found the ideal option.
How Do Clients Book Appointments?
Does the salon require you to make an appointment for haircut services or do they use a walk-in type of model? If you do need to book an appointment, how far in advance does the stylist's schedule fill up? Some salons require you to call ahead of time to schedule an appointment with your stylist, while others have online or app types of booking options.
What Other Services Does the Stylist or Salon Offer?
Do you want a cut and shave, waxing, or a color? Ask the stylist about additional services they (or other salon staff) may offer.
